Session 30 - Battle at the Genesis Foundation Parade

Key Points:
  • After the Abraham Campbell's wife was assassinated, all hell broke loose...
    • An EMP (or similar event) occurred that knocked out all electronics. Helicopters crashed; cars stopped working; and all the cameras died.
    • Kembu wasn't going to wait around and let his friend be framed; he broke Rickenato's window and leapt across an entire street and crashed through the window where Fake Roan was.
    • Rickenato offered a rare and expensive magic carpet for the group to use; Setter, Del, Managirl, and Mei-Xing using it to join into combat on the ground.
    • Combat on the ground? Oh, yeah, there wasn't just Fake Roan. There was Fake Del, Fake Managirl, Fake Trajan, and Fake Kembu. They all launched a surprised attack against Campbell's bodyguards.
    • The surviving bodyguards and ROGUE Agent Lukas Baer (who put down some covering fire) escorted Abraham and Cain Campbell to safety.
    • Gwen Morrisson stayed behind; inevitably tieing herself into the conflict against both the Fake Party Members and the Real Party Members. She would be cryptic with Managirl; often haughty and at one point injuring her (and her doppelganger).
  • So, what happened...?
    • Fake Del was killed by a combination of an amazing sniper rifle shot from Mei-Xing and Managirl's patent manarangs.
    • Fake Trajan ultimately died from Mei-Xing and Managirl as well.
    • It was revealed that when the 'fake' duplicates were killed, their bodies would explode in order to eliminate evidence of their involvement.
    • Fake Kembu would eventually be taken out by a combination of Roan's sniper rifle and Mei's pistols.
    • Fake Managirl was tag-teamed by the real Managirl and Gwen.
    • Managirl at one point felt herself compelled to spout some zealous propaganda about EARTHQUAKE and punch Gwen; though why this happened remains a mystery still.
    • Setter had a hand in wounding a lot of the Fake party members as well as providing valuable healing towards a very wounded Del.
    • The 'Fakes' would have back up in the form of gum drum drones and flying turrets. These would prove to be trouble, but the party's combined might would eventually overcome them...
    • The crowds on the street dispersed at the panic of the conflicts.
  • While the majority of the group fought on the streets, Kembu had his hands fill with Fake-Roan...
    • Fake-Roan used a flash-bang trigger within his sniper rifle to blind Kembu and attempt an escape. However, as he fled, the real Roan slowed his escape with a shot to the leg.
    • Fake-Roan had several turrets and a drone protecting him in the office, but Kembu made short work of the drone and ignored the turrets in favor of battling Fake-Roan.
    • Fake-Roan battled Kembu with the use of a knife and a handgun. Fake-Roan was largely unlucky with his strikes thanks to Kembu's superior skills, but eventually, the two combatants would take a toll on one another; both becoming bloodied.
    • Fake-Roan didn't reveal his real name nor did he reveal who he was working for, but he insisted that Linda Campbell had to die for there to be change in this world. Additionally, he seemed to be a devout worshipper of the hengeyokai Goddess: The Turtle. He spoke of Winter coming as well as variable quotes about entropy and chaos.
  • When the combat on the street was finished...
    • Roan used a grappling gun to get himself across to the other building while the others used the magic carpet.
    • Kembu received assistance in Del's emergency healing while Managirl arrived at the office fight by running up the stairs.
    • However, the battle took a bad turn; Fake Roan fleeing into a nearby elevator. Kembu gave chase and the two became locked in a deadly grappling; Kembu nearing death after a knife stab between the ribs.
    • Other party members began arriving on the scene, but it was about to be too late when Fake Roan closed the elevator.
    • Roan, however, pulled out the pistol he stole from Nacht and using a special round he had in it; used the seeking property of the weapon to land an amazing ricochet shot that pegged Fake-Roan right as the elevator closed...
  • The group seeks to finish off Fake-Roan before he can kill Kembu or escape, but with the descending elevator, they may have lost their chance...
