Session 38 - R&R At The Kobold Hotel

Key Points:
  • During the extended rest...
    • Managirl and Death Otter were relaxed and likely got into trouble.
    • Roan just relaxed.
    • Setter delivered Prometheus to The Man With No Name and managed a business deal with him.
    • Aria and Kembu went to Little Musashi (Sector Eight, Hengeyokai District).
      • They ran into Luna, a first class KNIGHT of Genesis who is charged with keeping ROGUE agent Darrell Johnson safe.
      • Luna was purchasing an Odachi; a hengeyokai greatsword. She claimed she needed it in her trial tests versus the fabled OGRE of Babylon.
      • Luna was pleasant enough with Kembu; the two trading compliments with one another.
      • At the Masamune weapon shop, Lupin (an assumed name for a Wolf Hengeyokai), spoke with Aria and Kembu. He seemed familiar with Kembu's master (Borai) and so knew Kembu by association. He seemed to know Borai from the old lands, but declined to share much about him given Borai's desire for privacy.
      • Lupin didn't have any blades available for Kembu's style; likely they would be rare. He could make one, but it would take time.
      • Lupin gave Kembu the option to visit a Wu Jen or a Priest to help deal with the Oni Curse. Kembu opted for the Wu Jen.
      • Visting the hare hengeyokai witch known as Rei, the old madam was able to give Kembu a charm that would keep the oni spirit from influencing Kembu's blade. In exchange, Kembu promised to return something stolen from Rei: a box full of blood vials. It was taken by the Mixtli Coatals; convenient enough for Kembu.
      • Aria also received her own charm upon asking and for agreeing to help Kembu retrieve the blood; a kitsune charm.
      • Rei seemed to be a fortune teller; or a seer of some sort (as she claimed to know sensitive information regarding Aria and Kembu). Eventually, she warned Aria that her father's sins would catch up to him. He would either become a good person or someone truly evil.
  • In the morning, the group woke up and had breakfast or lounged around by the pool...
    • The group bonded in various ways... typically through teasing one another or engaging in chit-chat.
    • The group met their new team member: Angel. Sent my the Watchdog, she is the latest Runner for the Middleman. The deva appears to be a combat medic with an interest in children and families. She seems wise, intelligent, and a bit reserved.
    • Setter returned to the group; offering everyone a nice sum of money that he received from ripping Rickenato off.
    • Setter made a deal with Gwen Morrisson; he would expedite the elimination of the Olympians in exchange for falsified information that Setter could feed to Nacht.
  • In the early day... Aria, Kembu, Managirl, Roan, Angel, Death Otter, and Setter geared up and prepared to storm the Treant Theater in hopes of eliminating the Olympians. While Rickenato's deal was technically almost finished, the group would receive no peace or quarter from Genesis, Nacht, or EARTHQUAKE until the parties were appeased concerning Pandora's Box.
    • Unfortunately, the group found Demeter's corpse missing from the truck...
    • Aria and Managirl take one motorcycle. Death Otter takes the other. And finally, the rest of the party take the truck...
Loot:
  • Angel, Aria, Kembu, Death Otter, Setter, Del, Roan, Managirl: Each received 10,000 GP from funds embezzled from Rickenato.
    • Each of them also has access to a personal account through a shell company that has 115,000 GP in it. However, the money is meant to be issued over a lengthy period of time in order to avoid suspicion, so it is not readily accessible.
    • If Rickenato learns the truth of Setter's deception, it is unlikely that he'll be very happy about it...
  • Demeter's Wheat Stalk: See Olympian Artifacts page...
  • Kembu...
The Dragon's Protection (Level 5, Rare, Wondrous Item)
This curved, dark ceramic charm is shaped to appear as The Dragon. The small, ruby eyes of the charm glow with a powerful magic that protects the wielder from any wayward curses that they've picked up along their adventures. The string attached to the charm allows it to be tied to just about anything.

-Property: When the charm is attached to a cursed item, the cursed properties of the item are negated. When the charm is removed from a cursed item, the cursed properties of the item resume.
  • Aria...The Kitsune's Trickery (Level 5, Rare, Wondrous Item)
This wooden charm is carved to give the appearance of a mischevous fox. When the wearer isn't looking, the charm often shapeshifts to take on a mocking appearance; shapeshifting back to normal just as the wielder would look at it. The string attached to the charm allows it to be tied to just about anything.

-Power (Encounter, Minor Action): You use the hengeyokai's racial power: Nature's Mask. You can only assume the form of a fox (tiny animal or hybrid). You can shift back to your original form as a minor action.
Current Objectives:
  • Complete Gwen Morrison's Deal: The group's innocence in the parade's assassination in exchange for defeating the Olympians (5/12).
  • Complete the Middleman's Third Job: Recover Pandora's Box for Rickenato.
  • Receive the Middleman's Answers.
  • Pursue Personal Goals.
    • Roan: Defeat Nacht.
    • Setter: Revenge.
    • Kembu: Save the girl.
    • Managirl: Find yourself.
    • Aria: Reunite your family.
    • Del: Save the world.
    • Angel: Start a family.
    • Death Otter: Defeat Athena.
